Oliver Herring

"Most people are much more unusual, complicated, and eccentric, and playful and creative than they have the time to express. Play. It's a thing that we put on hold because we get distracted by so many other things. We have to make money, we have to pay the bills, we grow up. and these roles that we play- they are not real but after a while they become real. They become us. Play. Is sort of a reminder of what that is like to be a kid and we in the end never lose that. You carry your past inside of your so why should it disappear?"

CitID a (type)face to every city!

While looking up information on Chicago's Gaper's Block I came across an article on Chicago's Typeface which lead me to this little gem of a site:

CitID aims to gain global consciousness by giving a (type)face to every city worldwide. We should submit designs for our respective cities :) Could be fun!

U-Ram Choe

U-Ram Choe has a solo show on display at the Frist Center in Nashville right now... if you find yourself in this grand city anytime soon I highly recommend seeing his "New Urban Species". His kinetic sculptures have to be seen in person. Though a video gives viewers a taste of what these pieces are like you lose the intricate and delicate details. Some pieces like the Urbanus Female Larva move with such gentle fluidity that you forget for a moment that they are not really breathing.

bookstore table top

made dis during january for da bookstore. da woodgrain's is all contact papers i bought at family dollar and lowe's.

coated top with modge podge (when i should have just used elmer's glue and water. lot cheaper. same thing.) and then a water-based low-odor clear acrylic sealant by minwax called Polycrylic.

i stole the wavy line pattern from a napkin.
like the time when i was 10. i had my parents copy, stencil, and paint on my bedroom wall all these colored squiggle designs that i saw on a paper Dixie cup sitting in front of my pew during catholic mass. thanks parents!
